The Fresno Petanque Club was formed by (shown at right) Tim Channel and Terry Bond in 2007; the same year that Petanque celebrated its 100th birthday in France. Tim was retired, so was able to devote his time to promoting this "fun little French game" to Fresnans. Tim, Terry and founding members Mark Graves and Linda Tolladay; Pierra-Paul Villafafilla; Robert Boro; Greg & Deb Lapp; Larry Roselle; Kristy Page; Polly & Richard Starkey; Mark Doster; Larry Mullin and Joyce and Jimmy Simpson, taught the game at "Fig Fest, the local wineries, River Parkway parties, The Farmers Market at The Vineyard, Fresno Sister Cities, the Annual L'Alliance Française de Fresno Bastille Day Party and many other venues. He invited anyone and everyone he met to come out to play and he became a tireless Ambassador of the sport. When Tim and Terry moved away from California in 2012 the club continued to grow, due to Tim's leadership and superb organization.
