Australian Petanque Championship 2022 in Adelaide


During the Easter weekend of 2022, the Australian Petanque Championship took place in Adelaide, capital of South Australia.

A major event to discover the world of pétanque in Australia.

The national championship is organized by the same club for three consecutive years and then moves to another club, this year was hosted by Supernovars Pétanque (Novar gardens Sport Club)

It is indeed surprising to discover a pétanque championship in Australia, far away from France, but it worths to remind that France has had an important influence in the Indian and Pacific Ocean regions, this has lead to the spread of petanque pasion between members from Mauritius, New Caledonia and Vietnam.

The french speakers are very present, but many Australians have actively joined petanque all over the country.

Petanque Federation Australia (PFA) is responsible for the direction and development of the sport at national level across the county.
The PFA is a member of the Fédération Internationale de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal (FIPJP) and of the Oceanian Confederation of the FIPJP.
